- EXHIBITION Lighthouses "lighting the sea, signaling the land!"

Several exhibitors but always the same theme: lighthouses!

Lighthouses Exhibition ""Lighting the sea, signaling the land!"" created by the DRAC and presented by Laurent Simons - Technician of Lighthouses and Beacons of the PO and Aude - presentation of archives and various tools (lights – lamps – maps)

Jennie Clara-Galté: "Plein phare" exhibition. Art historian and cinema poster specialist, she will present posters from her "Bonne impression" collection.

Thierry Delory: Cartoonist. We will present some original drawings and his books "Littoral, from Portbou to Port la Nouvelle" and "Conflent Canigo"

Gérard Roméro: an amateur photographer, he has had a passion for photography for almost 60 years. His sources of inspiration and favorite subjects are nature and the environment of the Mediterranean coast where he has lived since his retirement.

Serge Briez, president of the NGO "People of the Sea," will exhibit his photos of marine mammals and birds. He will present the film "Serge's Odyssey."

François Brun: Inventor of underwater wrecks, author and filmmaker will present an exhibition of photos and objects recovered from the wreck of the Estérel sunk by the UBoot 52 in April 1917 off Cap Béar, as well as a short film on the wreck (documents and archives).

Guillem Castellvi: Specialist in the history of coastal defenses during the German occupation. Presentation of archives and photos

Jeannine and Laurent Simons: Self-taught artists, they will present original creations (Driftwood – Sculptures – Paintings)

- CONFERENCE Languedoc Sud: German defenses on the Mediterranean (1942 - 1944)

Conference by Guillem Castellvi

Summary : After providing a historical context for the territory, which was then in the unoccupied zone until November 1942, the conference will focus on describing the German plan for the defense of the French Mediterranean coast. The surviving archives and archaeological evidence will provide a comprehensive overview of these fortifications and, more broadly, of the German presence in the South of France.

SYNOPSIS

Laurent Simons has lived at the Leucate lighthouse for about thirty years. He is responsible for maintaining all the lighthouses and beacons in the Aude and Roussillon regions. He is one of the last lighthouse keeper/technicians trained at the former Brest Lighthouse and Beacon School. Passionate about maritime heritage, he is steeped in this culture, now somewhat forgotten: a lifetime devoted to the sentinels of the seas.

But after Laurent retires, who will keep the lighthouse?

Following in Laurent's footsteps, this film tells part of the history of the lighthouses of France which shone throughout the world for a century.
